What makes Atria different

Three principles. Every project.

01 / Spaces

Designed around how you actually live

We map your routines before we touch a pencil. Every room is sized, lit, and sequenced to fit the life you already have — not a magazine version of it.

02 / Materials

Surfaces chosen for thirty years, not thirty months

Plaster, stone, aged timber. We specify materials that improve with time rather than date themselves. Your home should look better at year ten than at handover.

03 / Light

Natural light is the first material we place

Orientation, openings, and ceiling height are resolved in the concept stage — artificial lighting is specified last, as a complement, never a substitute.

Our philosophy

A room should feel like it was always yours.

We do not design interiors to win awards. We design them because a well-made space changes the texture of everyday life — how you think, how you work, how you come home.

Every Atria project starts with listening. Twelve years of residential and boutique commercial work across Kuala Lumpur has taught us that restraint is harder than decoration — and worth every ounce of the discipline it takes to get there.

Selected work

Twelve years. Three projects.

Every project ships on time, on brief, and quietly over-delivers on both.

How we work

Four steps. No surprises.

01

Listen

We spend the first sessions asking, not proposing. Understanding how you live — and want to live — comes before a single sketch is made.

02

Sketch

Concepts in pencil, not pixels. We explore spatial ideas loosely, then sharpen the ones that fit your brief with precision.

03

Specify

Every material, fixture, and finish is documented. Ambiguity is where projects stall — we eliminate it before the first contractor arrives.

04

Build

We stay on site. Atria manages every trade, every schedule, every punch list — so you move in to exactly what was drawn.

The studio

A practice built on conviction, not trend.

Sara Tan founded Atria Studio in 2013 after returning from graduate training at the University of Bath. RIBA-accredited and grounded in the belief that good design starts with understanding people, not trends, she built the practice deliberately — staying small, staying selective, and refusing to scale beyond what she could personally oversee.

Every Atria project is personally led by Sara from first consultation through to handover. No project managers, no account teams. The work you see on these pages is the work she drew, specified, and delivered — across twelve years and every room type in between.

“I would rather do fewer things properly than many things quickly.”

Your space deserves this kind of attention.

A first consultation is a conversation — no pitch, no pressure. We listen, we ask questions, and we tell you honestly whether this is the right fit.
